Social Snowball allows you to add tags to Shopify orders for:
Self-referrals
Free product welcome gifts sent to your affiliates upon joining a program, provided that you choose to send them.
You can enable/disable these order tags in the Advanced section of the Settings tab in your dashboard.
The tags will appear in Shopify as the following:
Self referral - Social Snowball
Affiliate gift - Social Snowball
