Where to find it
Log in to your affiliate dashboard and click Refer Brands in the main menu.
That opens your referral widget, where you can grab your link, watch your referrals progress, and collect your rewards.
How it works
Open Refer Brands and copy your unique referral link.
Share it with Shopify brands in your network - brands you already work with, brands you've pitched, founders you know.
They click through and request a demo with our team.
We check they're a fit: on Shopify, at the right stage, and not already talking to us.
They sign up and pay their first invoice.
Your $100 lands in your PayPal or Venmo.
Tracking your referrals
The widget shows you three numbers:
Clicks -> people who opened your link
Sign-ups -> brands that created an account through it
Rewards -> what you've earned, and where each payout has got to
Sign-ups appear within a few hours. Rewards take longer, because each one goes through fraud and self-referral checks before it's released.
Getting paid
Add your payout details
Open Refer Brands and add your PayPal or Venmo. Do this before your first referral converts, because rewards sit unpaid until there's somewhere to send them.
How you'll know
Three ways: an email, a badge on Refer Brands in your dashboard, and an announcement the next time you log in.
When the money arrives
Your reward is released about two days after the brand pays their first invoice, once it clears our checks. PayPal and Venmo transfers are usually instant from there, though some regions add another 12 to 24 hours.
Referral rewards aren't commissions
These are two separate systems, and mixing them up causes most of the confusion we see.
Commissions come from the brands you promote, paid through Trolley or whatever method that brand has set up.
Referral rewards come from Social Snowball, paid through PayPal or Venmo, and live only in the Refer Brands widget.
If you go looking for a referral reward in your commissions balance, you won't find it there.
Important info
A few things worth knowing before you start sharing your link.
The brand needs to be on Shopify.
They need to be new to us. Brands already using Social Snowball, or already in an active conversation with our sales team, aren't eligible even if they use your link.
They have to reach us through your link. A demo booked any other way can't be traced back to you.
Your reward depends on them becoming a paying customer, not on the click and not on the demo. Expect a gap while the conversation plays out.
Self-referrals don't count. That includes your own brand, brands you own, and any account created to claim a reward.
It's a flat $100 per brand, not a percentage of what they pay us.
FAQs
How many brands can I refer?
As many as you want. There's no limit.
Do I need to work with a brand to refer them?
No. Any Shopify brand you think would benefit is fair game.
What if they book a demo but never sign up?
You lose nothing, and the referral stays in your dashboard. If they come back and sign up later, message us and we'll check whether it's still credited to you.
How long until I get paid?
That depends on the brand, and sales conversations vary a lot. Once they've paid their first invoice, expect your reward about two days later.
How does the brand claim their 10% off?
They don't need to do anything. Our team applies it to their first month.
My referral isn't showing up
Wait 24 hours first. If it still isn't there, send us the brand's name and roughly when they used your link.
I can't find Refer Brands in my dashboard
We're rolling the program out in stages, so it may not have reached your account yet. Get in touch and we'll check.
Do I owe tax on my rewards?
Rewards count as income, and reporting them is up to you. Worth a quick word with a tax professional about the rules where you live.
